Chainsaw Training

At Merrick Training we offer Chainsaw Training through Lantra Awards.

Between April 2000 and March 2011 HSE state that 50 people have lost their lives as a result of tree work activities and many more have been injured. These accidents can occur due to improper training, no training or because operators have not kept their skills up-to-date. What’s more, the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) require employers to provide adequate training and to ensure that chainsaws and related equipment are operated only by employees who have received appropriate training.

Anyone working in or on trees is expected to have a recognised QCF qualification (certificate of competence). Training is a legal requirement of employers, including those that are self-employed.

At Merrick training we can offer:

  • Lantra Awards - Chainsaw Maintenance & Crosscutting Lying Timber (2 days maximum 4 candidates per course).
